Secret Sauce Patty Melt Bliss

 

Enjoy the comforting flavors of a perfect patty melt, featuring juicy beef patties, caramelized onions, melted cheese, and a tangy secret sauce.

Ingredients
Secret Sauce:

¼ cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon pickle juice
¼ teaspoon paprika
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Patty Melts:

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 large onions, thinly sliced
12 ounces 85/15 ground beef
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
8 slices rye bread
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 slices cheddar cheese
Instructions

Make the Secret Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, pickle juice, paprika, and garlic powder until smooth. Set aside.

Caramelize the Onions:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes, or until golden and soft. If onions begin to dry out, add a splash of water and lower the heat. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Prepare the Patties:
In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Shape into four thin patties that match the shape of your bread slices.

Cook the Patties:
In the same skillet, cook patties over medium heat until browned on both sides. Remove and set aside. Wipe the skillet clean.

Assemble the Sandwiches:
Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. Place one slice, butter-side down, in the skillet. Layer with:

1 slice Swiss cheese
1 cooked patty
Caramelized onions
A spoonful of secret sauce
1 slice cheddar cheese
Another slice of bread, butter-side up
Cook the Sandwiches:
Cook over medium heat until the bread is golden brown and the cheese melts, flipping once. Repeat for all sandwiches.”
