Ribeye Steak Well-Done
Ingredients:
2 ribeye steaks, 1-inch thick
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, smashed
3-4 sprigs fresh thyme
1 sprig fresh rosemary
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Directions:
Prepare the Steaks:
Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides.
Preheat the Pan:
Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and heat until shimmering.
Sear the Steaks:
Place the steaks in the skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side, forming a golden-brown crust. Reduce the heat to medium.
Add Butter and Aromatics:
Add the butter, garlic, thyme, and rosemary to the pan. Tilt the skillet slightly and spoon the melted butter over the steaks continuously for 1-2 minutes to baste.
Check for Doneness:
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature: 125°F (52°C) for rare, 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare, and 145°F (63°C) for medium. Adjust cooking time as needed.
Rest and Serve:
Remove the steaks from the skillet and let rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite side dishes.
