Mille Feuille Napoleon Pastry

Ingredients:
– 1 package of puff pastry
– 2 cups of heavy cream
– 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
– Fresh berries (optional, for garnish)
– Chocolate shavings (optional)
– 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut the pastry into rectangles, roughly 3 inches by 6 inches.

3. Place the rectangles on the prepared baking sheet. Prick them with a fork to prevent puffing while baking. Brush the tops with a beaten egg for a golden finish.

4. Bake the pastry for 15-20 minutes or until they are puffed and golden brown. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack.

5. In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.

6. Once the pastries are cooled, slice each rectangle horizontally to create two layers.

7. On the bottom layer, spread a generous dollop of whipped cream. Add a few fresh berries if desired, then gently place the top layer back on.

8. Repeat with the remaining pastries, then dust the tops with additional powdered sugar and garnish with chocolate shavings or berries.

9. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
