Giant Muffaletta Italian Sandwich

 

Ingredients:
– 1 large round loaf of Italian bread
– 1 cup olive salad (or a mix of chopped olives, pickled vegetables, and olive oil)
– 8 ounces sliced mortadella
– 8 ounces sliced salami
– 8 ounces sliced ham
– 8 ounces sliced provolone cheese
– 4 ounces sliced mozzarella cheese
– Fresh basil leaves (optional)

Directions:
1. Start by slicing your large round loaf of Italian bread in half horizontally – we want that gorgeous filling to shine!
2. Generously spread the olive salad on the bottom half of the bread. This adds a zesty kick that’s quintessential to the Muffaletta.
3. Now, it’s time for the star of the show! Layer the mortadella, salami, ham, provolone, and mozzarella on top of the olive salad. Don’t be shy – stack it high!
4. For an extra burst of flavor, sprinkle some fresh basil leaves on top if you like. Trust me, it’s a refreshing addition!
5. Carefully place the top half of the bread back on and give it a gentle press. We want everything to meld together beautifully.
