Decadent Surf-and-Turf

  • Ingredients
    For the Steak:

2 (8-10 oz) filet mignon, ribeye, or sirloin steaks
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 garlic cloves, smashed
2 sprigs fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
For the Seafood:

2 lobster tails or 1/2 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
For the Garlic Butter Sauce:

4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
Cook the Steak:

Bring steaks to room temperature. Pat dry and season generously with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steaks for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare (internal temp of 130°F/54°C). Adjust time for desired doneness.
Lower heat to medium, add butter, smashed garlic, and rosemary/thyme. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks for 1-2 minutes.
Remove from skillet, tent with foil, and let rest for 5-10 minutes.
Prepare the Seafood:

For lobster tails, cut them in half lengthwise. For shrimp, season lightly with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Cook lobster tails flesh-side down for 3-4 minutes, then flip and cook until opaque. For shrimp, sauté for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through.
Drizzle with lemon juice before removing from heat.
Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:

Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Stir in parsley and lemon juice. Keep warm.
Assemble and Serve:

Plate the steaks alongside the seafood.
Drizzle the garlic butter sauce over both and garnish with parsley.
Serve with sides like mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or asparagus for a complete meal.
