Creamy Scalloped Potatoes

 

Ingredients:
– 4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced
– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
– 1 medium onion, finely chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tablespoons butter
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).

2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.

3. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, salt, and pepper. Stir in half of the cheddar cheese.

4. In a greased baking dish, layer one-third of the sliced potatoes. Pour one-third of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with a bit of the sautéed onion and garlic.

5. Repeat the layers two more times until all potatoes and cream are used, finishing with the last layer of cream.

6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

7. Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the top. Bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.

8. Let it sit for a few minutes, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm. Enjoy this creamy delight!
