Classic Clam Chowder Recipe

 

Ingredients:
– Clams, minced (fresh or canned)
– Potatoes, diced
– Onion, chopped
– Celery, chopped
– Butter
– All-purpose flour
– Milk or cream
– Chicken broth
– Salt
– Black pepper
– Bay leaf
– Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions:
1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery, and sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

2. Stir in the flour and cook for another minute to create a roux.

3. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and bring this mixture to a gentle simmer.

4. Add the diced potatoes, bay leaf, salt, and black pepper. Cover the pot and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.

5. Add the minced clams and milk or cream to the pot. Stir well and let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes. Do not boil.

6. Remove the bay leaf and adjust seasoning to taste.

7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley, and enjoy your delicious clam chowder!
