Classic Banana Pudding

Heavenly Banana Cream Delight
Ingredients:

2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 ripe bananas, sliced
1 box vanilla wafer cookies
Whipped cream for topping
Directions:

In a medium saucepan, combine milk, heavy cream, sugar, flour, and salt. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble.

In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs. Slowly add a small amount of the hot milk mixture to the eggs, whisking constantly to temper the eggs. Gradually add the egg mixture back into the saucepan.

Continue to cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thickened and coats the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Let the pudding cool slightly, then cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

In a 9×13-inch dish, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of pudding.

Top with whipped cream and additional vanilla wafers, if desired.
