Chicago-Style Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

For the Dough:

3 1/4 cups flour

1/2 cup cornmeal (for texture)

1 tsp salt

1 tsp sugar

1 packet dry yeast (7g)

1 1/4 cups warm water

1/2 cup melted butter

For the Filling:

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup pepperoni or Italian sausage (optional)

2 cups homemade or canned tomato sauce

1 tsp oregano

1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, salt, sugar, and yeast. Add warm water and melted butter. Knead until smooth. Let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Pan:
Grease a deep-dish pizza pan (or cast-iron skillet). Roll out the dough and press it into the pan, forming thick edges.

Add the Filling:
Spread a generous layer of mozzarella and cheddar cheese on the bottom. Add pepperoni or sausage if desired. Top with tomato sauce and sprinkle with oregano and garlic powder.

Bake:
Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Serve:
Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Enjoy your Chicago-style pizza!
