Cheddar Chicken Pasta Bake

Ingredients:
12 oz pasta (penne or rotini)
2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (plus extra for topping)
1 cup milk
1 cup heavy cream
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
Directions:
Cook the Pasta: Boil pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Sauce:
In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, forming a roux.
Gradually whisk in milk and cream, stirring until smooth and slightly thickened.
Add garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Add Cheese:
Remove the sauce from heat and stir in cheddar and Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
Combine:
In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked pasta, shredded chicken, and cheese sauce. Mix until well-coated.
Assemble and Bake:
Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
Top with additional shredded cheddar and breadcrumbs if desired.
Bake:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
Serve:
Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
