Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Skillet
Ingredients 📝
1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
12 oz (340g) smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 large green bell pepper, sliced
1 large yellow bell pepper, sliced
1/2 large onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt (optional, depending on Cajun seasoning)
2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions 🥄
Cook the Sausage
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced sausage and cook for 4-5 minutes until browned. Remove the sausage and set aside.
Cook the Shrimp
In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of butter.
Season the shrimp with Cajun seasoning and paprika. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they are pink and opaque. Remove and set aside with the sausage.
Sauté the Vegetables
Add the sliced bell peppers and onion to the skillet. Cook for 5-6 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 additional minute.
Combine Everything
Return the sausage and shrimp to the skillet. Toss everything together to combine and heat through. Adjust seasoning with black pepper and salt if needed.
Garnish and Serve
Sprinkle with chopped green onions and fresh parsley.
Serve hot as is or over steamed rice, cauliflower rice, or pasta.
