Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions

 

Ingredients:

For the Beef and Marinade:
● 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
● 2 tablespoons soy sauce
● 1 tablespoon cornstarch

For Stir-Frying:
● 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
● 1 large onion, sliced
● 2 bell peppers (any color), sliced
● 3 cloves garlic, minced
● 1 tablespoon ginger, minced

For the Sauce:
● 1/4 cup soy sauce
● 1/4 cup beef broth
● 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
● 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
● 1 teaspoon sugar
● 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
● 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

For Serving:
● Cooked rice
● Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions:

1️⃣ Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, mix the sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons soy sauce and cornstarch. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.

2️⃣ Cook the Beef:
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

3️⃣ Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
In the same skillet, toss in the sliced onion and bell peppers.
Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.

4️⃣ Add Aromatics:
Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

5️⃣ Prepare the Sauce:
In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, beef broth, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).

6️⃣ Combine Everything:
Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the sauce.
Stir well and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

7️⃣ Serve:
Spoon the pepper steak over cooked rice and garnish with green onions.
