Pan-Seared Tilapia

Ingredients

🐟 4 tilapia fillets (about 6 oz each)
🧂 1 teaspoon salt
🌶️ ½ teaspoon black pepper
🥄 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
🧄 1 teaspoon garlic powder
🌿 ½ teaspoon dried oregano or thyme
🥄 2 tablespoons olive oil
🍋 Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Tilapia
Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels.
In a small bowl, combine salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and oregano.
Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over both sides of the tilapia fillets.
2. Heat the Pan
Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
3. Cook the Tilapia
Place the fillets in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes on the first side, until golden brown and slightly crispy.
Flip the fillets gently and cook for another 2–3 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
4. Serve
Transfer the fillets to a serving plate.
Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the tilapia and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
Tips for Success
Avoid Overcrowding: Cook in batches if necessary to ensure even cooking.
Pan Heat: Ensure the skillet and oil are hot before adding the fish to prevent sticking.
Extra Flavor: Add a splash of white wine or a pat of butter to the pan for a richer flavor.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad for a complete and balanced meal.
